As Accessions Director, Joseph Orchard works with Assistant Editors, overseeing their work and assigning them additional accessing projects as they arise. As Senior Editor, he mostly works with publications that focus on music history, string instruments, performance practice, and music of Western Christianity, among others. He also offers advice regarding RILM editorial policies. Orchard works with Human Resources by processing new hires, facilitating the submission of timesheets, and working to answer questions regarding personnel policies.
Joseph Orchard holds a PhD in musicology from Rutgers University. He earned a MA from NYU and a bachelors degree from the University of Dallas. He is a cellist, and also sings and promotes Gregorian chant when the opportunity arises. For a number of years, he was an administrator at events sponsored by the Aston Magna Foundation. He has also been teaching at Caldwell University where he developed a course on music and contemplation.
